On October 3, the Michigan Legislature passed the Fiscal Year 2026 State Budget. The $81 billion budget includes funding for statewide priorities as well as local projects that positively impact Michigan families and communities — including a $1,000,000 appropriation to the Huron Waterloo Pathways Initiative (HWPI) to support development of the Washtenaw County-wide Border to Border Trail (B2B Trail).
The B2B Trail is a planned 45-mile non-motorized trail connecting communities, people, and natural areas across Washtenaw County, with links to larger trail networks in neighboring counties. With fewer than seven miles remaining to complete the trail, this funding provides a critical boost to ongoing public-private efforts to finish this county-wide and regionally connected pathway.
HWPI is excited to celebrate this accomplishment for the B2B Trail and welcomes inquiries about this milestone. More information about this achievement can be found in the press release below.
